Changdao One: A Landscape Masterpiece by Jialian Design

Reviving Nature's Aesthetics in Xinmi City's Urban Landscape

The design concept of Changdao One is rooted in the unique features of Xinmi City, such as its precipitous mountains, curving roads, canyons, and terraced fields. Jialian Design has meticulously planned the long and narrow space, transforming the site's curves and structures into a secret valley journey. The entrance of the canyon is marked by a spirit deer sculpture, enhancing the rich and ever-changing experience offered by the turning radian and the length of the roads. The building appears to grow organically from the landscape, creating a sense of peace and tranquility.

The design process was guided by a principle of adjusting measures to local conditions and being modest to nature. The dry air in northern China turns the color of the local stone to gray, prompting the choice of darker materials to balance with the natural environment. White concrete was used to not only inject strength and thickness into the building space but also soften its cold visual appearance, weaken its heaviness, and clearly reflect the building's boundary.

Changdao One creates "nine sections of memory landscape" through "nine sceneries of Canyon", a design concept of "one scene at a time, changing different sceneries step by step". This approach maximizes customer participation and experience, fostering a sense of value identity. The design language is modern and fashionable, using cutting-edge space elements and expression techniques full of a sense of future, science, and technology. The canyon space is designed to catch people’s eyes, and the corridor of light invites visitors to explore the "aesthetics of life" in the natural world.

The project posed several challenges, including the long and narrow site and the vision affected by disordered peripheral buildings. The team had to find the site's value, shield adverse interference from the outside world, shape a new space experience and aesthetic value, and transmit the waterfront lifestyle. The solution was to use a smooth curve to reverse the disadvantages of space and combine it with a pure white wall to create a rich sensory experience under different turning spaces, thus opening a secret journey into the deep of the canyon corridors.

Changdao One has been recognized for its innovative design and has been awarded the Golden A' Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award in 2022. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
